A lost sock obituary Yellow Heel

Yellow Heel was one of the last pairs bought before a house move in 2020, from a shop that was already packing up its own window display. Gray cotton, with a yellow heel and toe, for reasons the label did not explain.

It went into a box marked SOCKS / MISC / BEDROOM 2. The move took two days and a borrowed van. Several boxes never arrived, including the one with the kettle, and most of the socks were not seen again. Yellow Heel turned up at the bottom of a box marked BOOKS, which has never been explained either.

For six years it was the only survivor of that box, and it was treated accordingly. It became the sock for moving days, half as a joke. It was worn on the day the keys to a new place were collected in January 2026.

It went missing in the second wash at the new address. The first wash went fine. The washing machine manual is still packed, and its owner suspects that is part of the problem.
